As the sun sets across the land, people join forces against the rubber band.
They interlock arms and glare ahead, wishing the rubber band was dead.
Like a train running full force in the dead of the night,
The rubber band flicked many of them out of sight.
The snap could be heard for miles around.
People plugged their ears to stop the horrible sound.
They still marched forward, hypnotized by their plight,
As the rubber band hit them and sent them into flight.
It stung them all, each and every one,
Turning them into blubbering babies grasping for their mother’s hem.
It was gone as quickly as it had come.
Not a word was heard because it had slapped them all dumb.
As consciousness was regained by all,
They stood and brushed off from their nasty fall.
They go about their lives as before,
Oblivious to the fact that… The rubber band will strike again.
